In the recent controversy surrounding actress Tanjin Tisha for her role in the Indian Bengali film ‘Bhalobasar Morshum’, various information is circulating on social media. Indian producer Sariful Dhabak has accused her of not returning the advance money. In this situation, Tanjin Tisha has clarified her position with an official statement. She claimed that the allegations circulated on social media are completely false, misleading and spread with the intention of damaging her career.
‘It is their responsibility to get a visa as per the contract, not mine’
Tanjin Tisha said that she signed the contract for the film after checking the contract through a lawyer. The contract clearly stated that foreign travel, visa, flight, accommodation and food were all the responsibilities of the director and producer. In Tisha’s words, ‘Unfortunately, they could not get my visa. I did not get the visa despite my personal efforts. According to the contract, all the visa-related responsibilities are the director’s. So, I am not responsible for this failure—it is completely their failure.’
She said that she waited for the visa for almost two months. Later, he found out that the team had started shooting with someone else while he was waiting. Due to this, he was forced to withdraw from the project.
‘There is no obligation in the contract to return the advance’
There are allegations that the conflict started due to the director’s refusal to return the advance money. In this context, Tisha claimed, ‘It is not written anywhere in the contract that if the work does not work due to the director’s failure, I have to return the money. I respect the law. If the court proves that I am obliged to return the money, then I will definitely return it.’
Tanjin Tisha said that their line producer (Sarif) sometimes asked her to return one-third of the money, and sometimes told her lawyer a different amount. Tisha also alleged that they are trying to damage her career by spreading wrong information to journalists.
In the statement, Tisha wrote, ‘I have never shown disrespect to any movie’, commenting, ‘A movie is a place of my professional honor. I have never disrespected any movie. I was forced to withdraw due to visa complications caused by them.
‘Publish the news after verifying the facts’
At the end of the statement, Tisha wrote to journalists, ‘To those journalist brothers who are publishing without knowing or knowing wrong information without talking to me and to those journalist brothers who are trying to reveal my truth, I would like to say with all due respect, “You will publish the truth after knowing everything” – this is all I can expect from you.’
