A person from ‘special district’ arrested while setting fire to a bus: DMP Commissioner

A person from a particular district has been arrested while setting a bus on fire in the capital, said DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjad Ali. He gave this information at a press conference on the ongoing law and order situation in Dhaka metropolis organized at the DMP Media Center on Tuesday (November 11) afternoon.

The DMP Commissioner said that a person from a particular district has been arrested while setting a bus on fire in Demra, and anti-election leaflets have been recovered from him.

The DMP Commissioner said that a group whose activities are banned has set off 17 cocktail explosions in different areas of the capital from November 1 to 11. In addition, 9 vehicles have been set on fire in the capital in the last two days. 50 people have been arrested in these incidents in the last two days. 17 cases have been filed in these incidents so far. Since last October, Awami League and its affiliate organizations have held 14 flash marches to announce their existence.

Sheikh Md. Sajjad Ali said, “People from outside Dhaka come to Dhaka and march in exchange for money and then leave Dhaka.” “552 people have been arrested in these incidents since October. We have analyzed CCTV footage and found that people wearing helmets and masks are detonating cocktails in the early hours of the morning or during busy periods. They are using underage boys to detonate the cocktails.”
