“Last Friday of Jamadiul Awwal: A Sacred Call to the Door of Repentance”

The Islamic months decorate the course of the year with religious significance. Where each month brings its own message of worship and spirituality. The last Friday of Jamadiul Awal is a soft touch of that realization, which draws the heart back to Allah.

The last Friday of this month reminds us – time does not stand still. Human life passes unnoticed. Allah Almighty says in the Quran, ‘By time! Indeed, man is a loser.’ (Surah Asr: 1-2). This verse seems to say – time is passing; will you not look at your own condition?

The last Friday of the month is therefore an opportunity to ask yourself – have I been able to spend the past weeks in the way of Allah?
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, ‘Every person sins; but the sinner who repents is better.’ (Sunan Ibn Majah: 4251). This hadith gives us courage – mistakes may happen, but the door to return is always open. The last Friday of Jamadiul Awal is therefore an ideal day for repentance.

One can ask oneself – Whom have I hurt? Whom have I wronged? Which command of Allah have I neglected? Then repenting accordingly is the duty of a true believer.
