NCP preparing for elections alone: Nahid

Desk Report:

The National Citizens Party (NCP) is preparing to participate in the national elections alone. Their goal is to field candidates in all 300 seats.

NCP convener Nahid Islam told reporters after meeting the family of July Shaheed Salahuddin in Siddhirganj’s Godnail area on Wednesday.

In response to journalists’ questions about the elections, Nahid Islam said, “We have clearly said that we are preparing for the elections alone and our goal is 300 seats. However, in honor of Khaleda Zia for her pioneering role in the fight to protect democracy, we will not field candidates in all those seats. Apart from that, we will field candidates with the Shapla Koli marker in all seats.”

Addressing the voters, Nahid said, “We have called on the people of Bangladesh that only those who practice godfatherism stand for elections – we want to challenge this culture. We want to see a common man of the area, an acceptable person, whom people will find close, and teachers as public representatives in parliament.’
Nahid Islam also said, ‘Now that the election drums are beating, let us not forget our injured and martyred brothers. Then many more will die like Salahuddin brother. There are also many complaints about the health facilities that the government has talked about for them.’
After the speech, Nahid Islam visited the grave of Gazi Salahuddin. At that time, he was accompanied by NCP Central Joint Member Secretary Abdullah Al-Amin, Central Organizer Shawkat Ali, Central Member Ahmedur Rahman Tonu, Central Senior Vice President of Jatiya Yuba Shakti Tuhin Khan, among others.
